CHELSEA, NEW YORK, June 23, 2026 — Heartspace Therapy, a therapy practice based in Chelsea, Manhattan, New York, has announced a new chapter in the practice’s growth following a leadership transition that places founder Daniel Spence, MA, LMHC, as the sole owner of the organization. The announcement also highlights the continued expansion of the practice’s clinical team to meet increasing demand for affirming mental health services across Manhattan.
Since opening in January 2021, Heartspace Therapy has provided trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming psychotherapy and relationship counseling for clients throughout New York City. The practice serves individuals, couples, families, and multi-partner relationships from its Chelsea office while supporting clients across neighborhoods including the Flatiron District, NoMad, Greenwich Village, West Village, Hudson Yards, Hell’s Kitchen, Gramercy Park, Union Square, East Village, and the Lower East Side.
Earlier this year, Heartspace Therapy completed an ownership transition when Spence’s business partner departed the organization, making him the sole owner and clinical leader of the practice. At the same time, Heartspace Therapy has continued to invest in growing its team of therapists to ensure clients have access to specialized mental health care that reflects the diverse communities they serve.
The therapy practice recently welcomed therapist Sara Beth Clayton, MA, MEd, MHC-LP, to the team and added Sean Bray, MA, MHC-LP, in June 2026. The practice also plans to welcome another therapist later this year as it continues to expand services for clients seeking support with trauma, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, relationship challenges, self-worth concerns, and LGBTQ+ affirming care.
“Heartspace Therapy has always been built around the belief that people heal best when they feel genuinely seen, understood, and valued,” said Daniel Spence, MA, LMHC, Founder and Sole Owner of Heartspace Therapy. “This transition represents an exciting opportunity to continue growing the practice while staying deeply connected to our mission. Bringing new clinicians onto the team allows us to increase access to affirming psychotherapy and mental health services for people throughout Chelsea and neighboring Manhattan communities who may have struggled to find a therapist who truly understands their lived experience.”
As a therapy practice, Heartspace Therapy has developed a strong reputation for providing inclusive care for LGBTQ+ individuals, BIPOC clients, immigrants, people navigating complex trauma, and those exploring diverse relationship structures and identities. Clients frequently cite the practice’s compassionate and collaborative approach as a key factor in their healing process.
One client described Spence as exceptionally approachable and empathic, noting that his presence creates a sense of safety and comfort that helps people engage more fully in their personal growth and healing journey. That emphasis on authentic connection remains a defining characteristic of the practice as it enters this next phase.
With a growing team and renewed leadership structure, Heartspace Therapy is positioned to serve even more individuals, couples, and families throughout Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Union Square, Hudson Yards, and surrounding Manhattan neighborhoods. The practice remains focused on expanding access to high-quality psychotherapy while maintaining the personalized care that has defined its work since 2021.

I can honestly say that he is an excellent listener and gives insightful advice. He's professional, intelligent, and has a real warmth that can't be faked. I consider myself a bit of a cynic but seeing Daniel is nothing like what I imagined seeing a shrink would be like. I would highly recommend him as a psychologist if you're looking for someone to help, he just "gets it".Posted on Google Rachel RC Scott-MohammedDecember 1, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They say that empaths only exists in science fiction, but anyone who knows the Daniel knows that's not true at all! Daniel is such an approachable person and knows how to make you comfortable in your own space. His presence makes you feel safe and he genuinely wants to help you heal and elevate your life. His compassion for the human spirit goes above and beyond everything you could ever ask for in a therapist! I would give 5,000 stars if I could!Posted on Google Yu LiNovember 30, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve been seeing Daniel for a few years now and cannot say enough good things about him. He’s compassionate, genuine, and tailors his approach based on my individual needs. I especially appreciate how he always remembers small details, which makes me trust that he is really listening and cares about my individual growth. He’s also always willing to work with me if I have a conflict!Posted on Google TanishaNovember 30, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My husband and i have been seeing Daniel for a while now for couples counseling. I was nervous about whether he'd be a good fit but Daniel has helped us through some tough situations. He's very caring and I think he's amazing and we're very grateful to have him.Posted on Google Kutluhan UnalirNovember 30, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Finding the right people to care for has been a long journey for me until I came across the good people of HST- From the moment I made contact I could feel I was listened to and my needs were a priority. the location also is a bonus as it is very centralPosted on Google Sharon RingelNovember 30, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. There are no words for me to express how much I appreciate heartspace therapy and in particular Nadav. Personally, heartspace therapy is a life-changing experience for me. The repair work, honesty (sometimes brutal), and acceptance I got during my sessions–and more importantly the tools I learn to give those to myself–changed my life forever. I will always be grateful to heartspace for helping me discover myself. I started this journey with very little faith in changing old habits and patterns and I came out of there a completely different person. Thank you for showing me the light when it got really dark and for always reminding me that I am worthy of love and affection. It sounds simple now, but it took me a while to get there. I am forever grateful for showing me how and where I should go.Posted on Google Lauren GoldbergNovember 29, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Daniel is such a kind, caring person. He’s incredibly easy to speak to - never a hint of judgement, just open ears and compassion.Posted on Google ziv kanerNovember 13, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had the privilege of being Nadav’s client. Nadav is caring, loving, compassionate, committed, and overall wonderful therapist. They helped me overcome many challenges and I can’t recommend them enough. One of the best therapists out there—you won’t regret working with them.Posted on Google Matan EldarNovember 13, 2022Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Frankly, I was really nervous to start therapy. I knew I could benefit from the support but hesitated to “dig deep”. Those fears were gone within the first few sessions with Nadav. They made me feel safe and at ease to share myself more openly. They continuously checked in with me to see how I was feeling during the process. I’m now a big advocate of therapy and if you can work with Nadav, please give yourself that gift. At least 5 starts from me!
