What do you do?

I help diverse adults (18-40) overcome shame, get rid of the pressure to perform, and discover their authentic self.

What are your identities?

I’m a non-binary, queer, fat therapist. I’m also an anti-oppressive white immigrant, which means I use my privilege to counteract individual and systemic oppression. I’m happily married and a foster/adoptive parent, able-bodied, mentally-able, and certainly imperfect.

What made you become a therapist?

As a fat, queer, gender-creative kid, I learned to hate myself and be someone else to feel loved. It was my multiple therapists who showed me that my authentic self is unique and worthy of love. I knew there was something magical about therapy because today I am proud of my unicorn self. It is now my passionate mission to create a life-changing therapeutic experience so you can celebrate everything about your fully realized self. Let’s be unicorns together!

What’s your therapeutic style?

I approach the therapeutic process with abundant unconditional love and intimate vulnerability. In session, I show up as a human being. I’m flawed, I also struggle with painful emotions, and try my best to be my authentic self. Together, we’ll explore your emotions and revisit past experiences so we can identify the source of current unhelpful patterns and develop helpful ones. We’ll cry, laugh, and keep it real. In fact, I have a knack for cutting through the BS so we can get the best results for you. I prioritize anti-oppressive feminist, positive psychology, and multicultural counseling approaches. This means that we’ll address, in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner, the unconscious forces in your life that were internalized by living in an oppressive world, such as internalized shame about your identities, desires, or actions.

What are your areas of expertise?

Many of us struggle with being hard on ourselves, prioritizing other people’s needs rather than ours, and feeling the pressure to be the best at everything we do. Through our work, you’ll be able to remove critical voices that live in your head, eliminate shame about who you truly are, and feel empowered to prioritize and assert yourself. Ultimately, we’ll co-create a new narrative for your life that will allow your unique and authentic self to shine.

What populations do you specialize in?

I’m proud to work with people from diverse sexual and gender experiences, including LGBTQ+, HIV+, non-binary and gender-creative folx, sex workers, poly/CNM, BDSM/kink, and minor-attracted people. I also have expertise working with fat individuals by creating a fat-affirming space, immigrants, and people with foster/adoptive experiences.

What else would you like to share about yourself?

My life has taken me in many different directions and I’ve been fortunate to be involved in teaching, research, and activism. Above all, I love being a therapist and feel lucky to do this work. It is my privilege to witness your transformation and be proud of your journey. When I’m not working, I love going to the theater, ballet, and opera. When I don’t go out, you’re most likely to find me binge-watching adorable puppies videos on YouTube or cooking without a recipe because I’m... creative?!

What are your fees per session?

$325 for individual therapy and $400 for relationship/family therapy. Limited sliding scale fee slots available.
